Medical Loss Ratio Group Size 2015

Information & Instructions

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act includes a requirement that insurance companies report their Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) to state and federal agencies, and pay rebates if certain MLR targets are not met. The calculation of the MLR is based, in part, on the size of the insurance companies’ employer groups. In connection with that, in order for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming to comply with these provisions of the Affordable Care Act, we are collecting some additional information from our accounts. Please take a few minutes to complete the certification by answering the questions below.

For more information about this data collection requirement or if you have questions about completing this certification please contact Shane Allen, Director of Marketing with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming, at (307) 432-2823 or shane.allen@bcbswy.com. If you have technical issues or other problems completing this certification please contact Sandra Adam, Supervisor of Accounting-Income/Investments, at (307) 432-2786 or sandy.adam@bcbswy.com.
You will need the following information to complete the certification:

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming Group Number (This can be found on your monthly premium billing statement or on the bottom right hand corner of the letter you received.  Please do not add the roll number, -01, as this will cause an error.)
Monthly average number of all employees during 2015. Please use the tool below if you have questions calculating this number.
You may already report your number of employees for other federal mandates; however, there may be differences in the requirement for each federal mandate. As a result, we are providing a sample chart below as a guide to determine your average number of employees for 2015.
You can find your average number of employees by dividing your total number by 12 or by the number of months you were in business in 2015. In this example, 504 divided by 12 equals 42.
