Drummers have always been a vital part of any musical ensemble. However, with todays technology, it is common for musicians to program drums into their recordings using drum machine and samples. This survey is part of a research paper looking into whether the groove and feel a drummer instinctively provides in a performance can truly be replicated by programming samples and synthesised sounds.
