Abstract Submissions for 2016 Midwestern Universities for Global Health Meeting

Northwestern University’s Center for Global Health and the planning committee are accepting abstracts from presenters for the Midwestern Universities for Global Health Meeting. The meeting will be held at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.  The welcome reception will be held in the evening of Thursday, November 3, and the meeting will run the full day on Friday, November 4.

The meeting theme will be "Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Approaches to Global Health" with oral and poster presentations with tracks in education, research, and health equity and clinical outreach.  We particularly welcome and encourage submissions with work from various disciplines such as - but not limited to - nursing, public health, medical anthropology, engineering, business, medicine, and law. 

Submission guidelines:
  • Abstracts should be no more than 350 words
  • Supplemental materials (photos, articles, reports) are not accepted and will not be seen by the review committee
  • Presenter biosketches are also accepted up to 250 words each
  • Abstract title no more than 125 characters
  • Abstracts may be for oral or poster presentations
Timeline:
  • Abstracts due Monday, September 26
  • Decisions sent to presenters by Friday, October 14
  • Meeting date Friday, November 4
Suggested tracks under meeting theme of Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Approaches to Global Health:
  • Global health education – Describing methodologies to advance global health competencies and skills for students across disciplines
  • Global health research – Developing innovative interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary research programs and capacity in low and middle-income settings
  • Health equity & clinical outreach – Advancing community-based interventions for underserved populations as well as clinical outreach programs
