Elementary School Health Education Curriculum Pilot

The Office of School Wellness Programs will work with eight elementary schools during the 2016-17 school year to pilot The Great Body Shopa comprehensive, student-centered elementary health education curriculum. Participating schools and teachers will commit to:
 
  • Attending a one-day orientation in fall 2016
  • Implementing 1 Great Body Shop lesson per week / total of 40 lessons over the course of the year
  • Completing a series of online feedback forms
  • Participating in a 2.5 hour after-school check-in meeting in December 2016
  • Participating in a 3-hour after-school focus group meeting in June 2017

9. The Great Body Shop covers many health-related topics throughout the course of the school year. Some lessons focus on sensitive health topics, and you may encourage your students to speak to a guidance counselor or social worker for additional support.
