Planning Credential - Highly Effective Schools Through Libraries

PLEASE CONTACT TAMMY LANGEBERG AT langeberg_t@cde.state.co.us WITH QUESTIONS.

Program Standard 1 - PLAN OF ACTION (includes measurable evidence of success)
An exemplary teacher librarian identifies their core values and vision for the library. The they work alongside the building administrator(s) to align their vision with the school’s goals/focus in mind. They are intentional about creating several year and multi-year goals for teaching and programming with annual review that will result in students and staff who will thrive and grow.

TO EARN THE CREDENTIAL, PROVIDE EVIDENCE FROM BOTH COMPONENTS (see below for both components):

Component A: Vision:
The teacher librarian identifies their core values and uses those to develop a vision with administration for themselves and the library program. The teacher librarian communicates this vision and values to the school community (School community = administrators, teachers, school staff, students, and parents) in various ways in an ongoing manner.

Component B: Goal Setting (includes measurable evidence of success):
A teacher librarian sets two to three goals, at least one of which is aligned with the school’s goals, that focus on student and adult learners growing and thriving in school and beyond. The goals include embedded reflection to check for success and/or needed adjustments along the way. Annual review of school focus goals, library data, and collaborative input from the school community is part of developing a plan of action for continuous quality improvement.
