This survey is being undertaken by Dorset Race Equaity Council as part of an action research project in Bournemouth and Poole, funded by the Government Office of the South-West, to better understand the impact that migrant workers from the EU accession states have had on our local communities. The accession states comprise: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The survey hopes to identify both the positive effects that migrant labour has had on businesses and the local economy and the difficulties faced by both employers and workers (local and migrant) in dealing with, for instance, different languages and cultural expectations.
