Revenge Porn Survey

Research Information Sheet

I am a Forensic Psychologist in training and I am currently doing my internship at Coastal Child and Adult Therapeutic Services (CCATS). I am working under the direct supervision of Dr. Carol Ireland, who is a Chartered Psychologist, Forensic Psychologist and Course Director of the MSc in Forensic Psychology (UCLAN).  I am conducting research as part of my Masters program at University of Maastricht, Netherlands. If you would like to contact someone for additional information, you can contact Dr. Ireland (CAIreland@uclan.ac.uk) or Dr. Ioan Ohlsson (IoanOhlsson@ccats.org.uk) or myself (sionahuxley@ccats.org.uk)

For the sake of your anonymity when sending an email, you can create a temporary email that DOES NOT include any detail from which you can be identified.

If you have any additional concerns about this research that you wish to raise with someone that is not directly part of the research team, you can do so with the University Officer for Ethics (OfficerForEthics@uclan.ac.uk).

This research aims to look at revenge pornography and the characteristics of the victims and the perpetrators. This research will focus on whether there are any characteristics that increase the likelihood that an individual may be a victim or perpetrator of revenge porn.

The questionnaires are completely anonymous and at no point during the survey will you be asked for your name. Since the questionnaires are anonymous, please answer the questions as honestly as you can.

This survey includes SIX QUESTIONNAIRES (which are all required to be completed if you agree to participate) and should not take longer than 30 MINUTES to complete.

Your participation in the research is completely voluntary. If you decide at any point before the submission of the questionnaires that you would like to withdraw, you may do so. However, once you have submitted the questionnaires, it will not be possible to withdraw from the research, as the information is anonymous. Please note that YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE PART IN THIS STUDY and you have the RIGHT TO WITHDRAW FROM THE STUDY AT ANY POINT BEFORE SUBMITTING THE QUESTIONNAIRES. All completed and submitted questionnaires will be stored securely by the researcher and the information will only be used for the purpose of this research, which may involve publication in a peer reviewed journal.

At the beginning of this document, my contact information is provided, as well as that of my supervisor.  You can contact us BEFORE doing the questionnaires if you wish, for any additional information about the study. Please be reminded that if you are going to email, for the sake of your anonymity, you are encouraged to create a TEMPORARY email address that does not have any details from which you could be identified.

Our contact details will be provided again on the debriefing sheet, if you would like to contact either of us AFTER you have completed the survey. There is also the contact information for organizations that deal with victims of abuse, in case this questionnaire has affected you.

If you submit the completed survey, you are providing formal consent for your data to be used in the analysis of this study. Since the questionnaires are completely anonymous, it would not be possible to locate your data to withdraw it after it has been submitted.

Thank you,

Siona Huxley
