Call for Nominations: Developing a Research Agenda for Carbon Dioxide Removal and Reliable Sequestration

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine are pleased to announce a new study on Developing a Research Agenda for Carbon Dioxide Removal and Reliable Sequestration.
 
The Academies will convene an ad hoc committee to develop a detailed research and development agenda needed to assess the benefits, risks, and sustainable scale potential for carbon dioxide removal and sequestration approaches; and increase their commercial viability. 
 
Expertise Needed: We are looking for nominees with a broad range of relevant expertise including:

  • Soil science
  • Agronomy, agricultural engineers, forest management
  • Atmospheric science
  • Geology
  • Physical, biological and chemical oceanography
  • Chemistry
  • Chemical engineering
  • Carbon capture
  • Economics
  • Integrated assessment modeling
  • Program evaluation

 
Efforts will be made to include diverse participants, including early career scientists, and standard Academies diversity considerations of race, gender, and institutional affiliation.

Deadline for Nominations: To make a nomination, fill out this form no later than November 23, 2016.  Self-nominations are welcome.  You can also submit your nominations directly to Michael Hudson (mhudson@nas.edu).
