Thank you for your interest in our 12-week long research study.  We are researchers at the University of South Carolina and we are conducting a 12-week long research study of a health-related intervention for pregnant women living in the United States. If you are not currently pregnant, we appreciate your interest but this study will not be the right fit for you. This research study will help inform researchers about the use of a mobile app to encourage social support and healthy behaviors, as well as the logistics of delivering a mobile health intervention.
Participation in this research study requires the use of a commercially available free mobile app that participants will be asked to download on their personal smartphones.  Participants will be randomly assigned to a group of 8-10 pregnant women and each week a new health-related challenge will be posted in the groups through the mobile app.  Participants will use the mobile app to talk with other pregnant women, post about health-related goals and challenges, and track specific health behaviors. You will also be asked to use a study website to track your weight or stress levels for the duration of the study.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.  Thank you in advance for your time and honest responses. Someone from the research team will contact you within the next week to let you know if you are eligible to participate in this study.
