YWLP Facilitator Application 2019-2020

Expectations for Facilitators
  • Enroll in EDHS 3891: Fostering Leadership in Girls & Women (Fall – 3 credits) and EDHS 2900 (Spring – 1 credit). Class will meet on Mondays from 3:30-6:00 p.m. in the Fall semester and from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Spring semester. The course is a required service-learning component of YWLP and is designed to create a supportive community among the facilitators and develop students’ group facilitation skills. This is an academic course and therefore academic reading and class projects are an integral component.
  • Facilitate 2.5 hours per week in group meetings for the 2019-2020 academic year.
  • Come prepared to all meetings and classes.
  • Attend all program-wide YWLP events.
  • Support and nurture your Big and Little Sisters individually and as a group (phone calls, meetings, group activities, etc.).
  • Attend YWLP Facilitator Training on Sunday, August 25th from 10am-2pm
  • Attend YWLP Big Sister Orientation on Monday, August 26th from 1pm-5:30pm
This application includes short essay answers (about 1 paragraph each) that may require some advance planning. Please be prepared to answer these questions before you begin the application:

  1. What are your goals as a YWLP Facilitator?

  2. Check in with your most recent Facilitators. Gather feedback from them on what they think your strengths and weaknesses as a Facilitator would be (everyone will have both!). Reflect on this feedback and incorporate your own ideas.How do you plan to utilize your strengths and build on your weaknesses?

  3. What do you hope to gain from the opportunity, personally and professionally?  In what ways do you think your involvement with YWLP will allow you to grow and develop over the year?
