Terms and Conditions of Entry

1. The Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award is an acquisitive art award and exhibition.

2. This is a Victorian-wide exhibition and competition. All entrants must be living in Victoria.

3. One outstanding entry will win the Major Acquisitive Award of AUD$10,000. Further Merit Awards up to a total of AUD $4,000 will be selected from the remaining pool of finalists. All award-winning ceramic artworks will become part of the public art collection of the City of Manningham.

4. All styles of work are acceptable for entry providing the work is predominantly made from ceramics which have been produced by the artist.

5. An artist/s may enter up to three (3) works. Joint entries are permitted but all parties must be acknowledged on the entry submission. They will then be catalogued accordingly. Each individual entry will attract a $30 entry fee.

6. Artists are required to submit up to three high resolution digital photographs of each entered artwork (min. recommended - jpg and png; 300dpi; 1920 x 1080pixels). Images must be of the actual work/s entered. The artist's name and the title of the work must appear as the image file name. Any images provided may be used by Manningham Art Gallery for promotional purposes.

8. The online entry form with attached images and artist CV must be completed by 5.00pm Friday 30 June 2017 - DEADLINE EXTENDED. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances.

9. All images and artist CVs will be retained by the gallery for archival records.

10. Employees of Manningham City Council and members of their immediate families are ineligible to enter.

11. Measurements of three-dimensional pieces should not exceed 2 metres in height or 1 cubic metre in volume. Two-dimensional works should not exceed 2 metres in any given direction.

12. All works selected must be ready for installation with detailed instructions. If hanging, d-rings or screw eyes should be attached. All works must be clearly marked on the base or back with the artist's name and the title of work.

13. Manningham Art Gallery, as the administrator of the award, reserves the right to reject an entry if it is considered not to meet the afore-stated criteria for entry.

14. Manningham Art Gallery is located in Doncaster, Melbourne, Victoria. The gallery is a service of Manningham City Council.

15. The judge for the 2017 Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award is Janet DeBoos.

16.The judge will select works for inclusion in the Finalists Exhibition from the images of the artworks provided by entrants. The Awards will then be chosen from the selected works sent to Manningham Art Gallery.

17. The judge reserves the right not to select a winner or any work for acquisition, or not allocate the full acquisition budget if the works are not, in his/her opinion, of sufficient merit.

18. The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding any decision made by the judge/s.

19.All exhibited works must be for sale and a 22% commission including GST will be charged by the Gallery on works sold.

20. Entrants who receive Merit Awards or Special Acquisitions by Manningham City Council will be paid the stated sale price of their work less the commission charged by Manningham Art Gallery.

21. Short-listed works MUST ARRIVE at Manningham Art Gallery no later than Wednesday 2 August 2017. If sent by courier, works must be addressed to: 2017 Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award, Manningham Art Gallery, 687 Doncaster Road, Doncaster, Victoria 3108. Packaging must be clearly labelled with the entrant's name.

22. The Manningham Art Gallery has the right to withdraw from the exhibition any work if it is considered to be significantly different from the work illustrated in the submitted jpeg image and/or if it is of a quality considered unsuitable for a statewide competition and exhibition.

23. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and executed after 1 January 2016.

24. Freight to and from the Manningham Art Gallery and transit insurance is the responsibility of the artist. Manningham Art Gallery accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage that occurs to the work during transit. The Manningham Art Gallery will insure all works whilst on exhibition at Manningham Art Gallery.

25. Work which arrives in a damaged condition is restored at the artist's expense and only with the permission of the artist. Restoration is undertaken at the discretion of the organizers taking into account the degree of damage and time constraints. Restoration may, however, invalidate the work from being for sale or acquisition but not from exhibiting.

27. The Manningham Art Gallery reserves the right to dispose of any uncollected work as it sees fit after six months from the close of the exhibition.

28. By completing the entry form and making the work available the entrant warrants that the work is the sole and unencumbered property of the entrant and that there is no inhibitions or restrictions upon the title passing to Manningham Art Gallery in the event the work is a prize winner or chosen as an acquisition.

29. To comply with Australian Taxation Law, all entrants must provide a current ABN or, if a hobbyist, a completed Statement by Supplier form, which can be downloaded from the Australian Tax Office's website.

30. Entrants whose work is selected for inclusion in the Finalists Exhibition must permit Manningham Art Gallery to reproduce images of the work in an exhibition catalogue, promotional material and archival records relating to the Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award and/or the Manningham Art Collection. Where such images are reproduced they will be accompanied by a full accreditation that includes the names of the artist and the artwork, unless the circumstances do not reasonably allow this. Manningham Art Gallery recognises the entrant as the copyright holder of any work that they enter.

32. The submission of the electronic entry form is evidence of the entrant's consent to these terms and conditions.

All personal information gathered by the Manningham Art Gallery will be used solely for the purpose of administrating the Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award.

Manningham City Council is committed to full compliance with its obligations under the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Vic) (Act) and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) (Act). Survey Gizmo is a cloud based software tool that is used to collect and temporarily store any information you complete on this form. This information is hosted in a data centre located in Boulder, Colorado which is external to Council's computer systems and may be accessed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) without a court order and without permission from Council under the provisions of the United States Patriot Act.
