Course Application: Skills & Careers in Science Writing (Spring 2017)

Thank you for your interest in the Skills and Careers in Science Writing course, offered by Science in Society, in partnership with Medill School of Journalism and The Graduate School.

Essays
The application form includes a short essay and personal statement.
Please complete and save your essays in another file format (eg MS Word). YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SAVE A PARTIAL APPLICATION.

Topics:
  • Explain your research (and why it matters) for a general, high-school-educated audience. (Around 500-800 words)
  • Tell us what you hope to gain from this course. (Maximum 200 words)

Eligibility
Applicants must be full-time, PhD-track STEM+ graduate students at Northwestern. Relevant fields of study include but are not limited to Anthropology, Chemistry, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, Math, Physics and Psychology.

Priority will be given to students entering the 3rd or 4th year of PhD study as of September 2016. At this time we are not considering applications from postdoctoral fellows or Master's degree students.
