Opiate addiction is the acknowledged #1 health issue affecting the people of Midcoast Maine. It is estimated that more than 10% of babies born are drug affected, 20% of teens use drugs regularly and 10% of teens are addicted to substances. At least two young people die of drug overdose each month in Knox County. Our families and communities are being torn apart by addiction. This is a problem that affects us all either directly or indirectly.
The Midcoast Recovery Coalition’s (MCRC) mission is to reduce the rates of drug addiction and to lessen the negative effects of addiction our communities.
This survey is being conducted to guide MCRC in taking action to make the Midcoast a healthier community and to provide information which will help MCRC apply for grants needed to more effectively address and prevent addiction.
Please complete this short survey to help us better understand the scope and nature of substance abuse in Knox County so we can apply effective solutions to this problem.
