Call for Nominations - Forum for Children's Well-Being: Promoting Cognitive, Affective and Behavioral Health for Children and Youth

The Board on Children, Youth, and Families of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is searching for experts to be considered for co-chair positions on the Forum on Children’s Well-Being. The Forum is entering its sixth year of work, and new co-chairs will be asked to begin their term in September 2019.  The Forum aims to inform a forward-looking research agenda for building a stronger research and practice base around the development and implementation of programs, practices, and policies to promote all children’s cognitive, affective, and behavioral health, including those with disabilities. Through public workshops, commissioned papers, and other activities to inform the public, members of the Forum identify what decision makers and practitioners at multiple levels want to learn from research and how implementation science can help both in translating research to practice and having practice inform research. Throughout all our work we promote healthy equity to address disparities and improve the lives of all children, families, and communities.

Co-chairs of the Forum will work closely with our staff team and guide Forum members through our work.  We are looking for individuals with demonstrated success as an impactful leader. Specific qualities and areas of expertise include:
     •             A history of leadership in a government, foundation, professional, or community organization
     •             A commitment to diversity, as well as an understanding of its impacts on child well-being
     •             A demonstrated ability to create impact at the community, state, or federal level
     •             Experience working successfully across systems or sectors that impact child well-being

Please submit your nominations by February 8, 2019.

Forum selection is critical to the success of National Academies’ projects. Forum co-chairs must be well-respected in their specified fields of study and work and have a broad understanding of the domains relevant to the charge. The National Academies is committed to the full participation of women, persons with disabilities, and under-represented minorities in all phases of its work.
