Foundations of Math Implementation Usability Testing Application 2017-2018

Call for Applications: Foundations of Math Implementation Sites
 
Michigan’s Integrated Mathematics Initiative, (Mi)2, seeks sites (a K-12 feeder system or small district) for usability testing of implementation supports designed to build and support local capacity to provide high quality math education to ALL students, informed by the Foundations of Math training course.

Interested sites should: 

1.     Read through the Overview of Foundations of Math, Implementation Structure, and Application Questions in the Call for Applications: Foundations of Math Implementation Sites

2.     Identify a potential Foundations of Math instructor team (two people with a general education math background and two people with a special education background is required) who will work with your site and submit an application for Level 2 instructor training. 

3.     Contact Kate Fanelli (kate.fanelli@altshift.education) with questions.

4.     Use this form to submit an application.  Applications for the 2018-2019 school year are accepted through June 15.
3. Identify potential Foundations of Math instructors (representing both general education and special education and who have completed Level 1 Foundations of Math training and are applying for Level 2 Foundations of Math training).  Ideal candidates will
  • be able to commit a minimum of 2 years to the overall training and implementation process
  • participate on the implementation team
  • complete all requirements for instructor training, including Level 2 training, co-teaching, satisfactory performance on a math assessment, and participation in the Trainer-of-Instructors day
  • provide feedback throughout the Level 2 training process through surveys, direct communication with (Mi)^2, etc.
  • engage in observations
  • assign and grade homework assignments that are submitted by participants during training they are conducting (Learning Task 5 - Word Problems, Learning Task 6 - Number Knowledge Test, Learning Task 7 - Painting Walls Problem, and Learning Task 9 - Group Lesson Plan)
  • conduct the training at least once every two years as mutually agreed upon by the Foundations of Math instructors, their supervisors, and (Mi)^2.  These trainings may be in-district, in-county, or within the intermediate school district.

4. Level 2 training for 2018/2019 Foundations of Math implementation sites will be in St. Johns at Clinton County RESA on August 1 and 2, October 3, and November 5 and 6, 2018.  Will all members identified in question 4 be in attendance for those five full training days?
5. Identify an (Mi)2 liaison to be the contact person throughout the application and, if accepted, the implementation process. *This question is required.
7. Will all of the teachers (who teach math - elementary, secondary, special education), interventionists, and coaches from your building/district attend the full five days of training during usability testing?  If no, please provide an explanation or time line for getting the remainder of your staff trained. *This question is required.
