Sponsor. The Sponsor of the Movoto Scholarship Competition (“Competition”) is Movoto, LLC, located at 1900 S Norfolk Suite 310, San Mateo, CA 94403.

How to Enter. Participants may enter the Contest beginning February 24, 2017 at 9:00am EST until December 31, 2017 at 11:59pm PST by submitting an article to Movoto on the theme of why you “Love Where You Live.” Movoto is not responsible for submission errors that result in late or inadmissible entries. Each participant is limited to one submitted article.

Eligibility. To participate or win, an entrant must be currently enrolled at any high school, College, University, Associates, JC, Vocational Institution in the United States for the Fall 2017 semester. Directors, officers, employees, and agents of Movoto, and the members of their immediate families or households, are not eligible to win.

Winner Selection. Three (3) winners will be selected based on two (2) judging criteria, determined in the judges’ sole and absolute discretion, applied to the entered articles at the following weight:
    
1. How creative/original is it? (50%)
    
2. How much local, in-depth knowledge of your city does it exhibit? How much does it make us want to visit? (50%)

Judges’ decisions are final and binding.

Prohibited Content. Articles must be created for the Competition, and not previously submitted in a past promotion or previously displayed publicly. Articles must be the original work of the participants and not violate the rights of any other party, including but not limited to intellectual property rights or rights of privacy/publicity. Articles must NOT contain: (a) advertising or commercial content for any party other than Movoto; (b) content that endorses/promotes illegal or harmful activity; (c) violent, profane, vulgar, obscene, defamatory or otherwise objectionable material; (d) adult material; or (e) any other material that Movoto deems objectionable in its sole and absolute discretion. Movoto reserves the right to disqualify any article that violates these prohibitions, or any article Movoto deems inappropriate for any reason, in Movoto’s sole and absolute discretion.

License. By submitting a written article or articles, participants grant Movoto an unrestricted, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicenseable, exclusive license to reproduce, distribute, transmit, publish, display, or otherwise use the article or articles (including in conjunction with participant’s likeness, photo, name, and/or geographical and biographical information), with or without modifications, in any media, whether now existing or later developed, for any purpose.

Prize. Three prizes are available: Three $1,000.00 scholarships and award certificates. Prizes consist of: (a) a $1,000.00 check made out to the academic institution in which the winner is currently enrolled on behalf of the winner; (b) an award certificate bearing the name of the winner; Movoto will contact winners within one month of the conclusion of the Competition. No substitution or transfer of the Prizes is permitted.

Notification/Announcement of Winner. Movoto will notify each winner through email or other messaging methods between February 1 and February 28, 2018. If any such winner fails to respond within five business days, he or she may be disqualified, and the Prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. Movoto will publicly announce the winner within 7 days of verbal confirmation of acceptance of the Prize by the winner, including through social media channels such as Twitter (@Movoto) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/movotorealestate).

Prize Conditions. Each prize is provided as-is with no warranty or guarantee. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply, including but not limited to tax laws. The winner must provide Movoto with a valid taxpayer identification number before any prize will be awarded. The winner will receive an IRS Form 1099 at the end of the calendar year. Movoto may require the winner to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release and a publicity release where permitted by law. In Movoto’s sole and absolute discretion, refusal or inability to sign and return such forms within four days of notification may result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner.

General Liability Release. By entering the Contest, participants release Movoto from any liability whatsoever, on any theory, and waive all claims and causes of action arising from or related to this Contest.

Interpretations and Disputes. Participants agree to be bound by these Rules and all decisions of the judges, which are final and binding. Any disputes shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, and shall be resolved in the courts of San Mateo, California.

Miscellaneous. The Contest is void where prohibited. If any terms or provisions of these Rules are held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, void, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. Movoto may suspend, modify or terminate the Contest if it believes, in its sole discretion, that malfunction, error, disruption, or damage is impairing or will impair the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, in which case the Prize will be awarded among the eligible entries received that were unaffected by the problem, if possible.
