Statement of Task and Nominee #1

Call for Nominations
Atlantic Offshore Renewable Energy Development and Fisheries Steering Committee

Statement of Task

The Ocean Studies Board will establish an ad hoc steering committee to organize a workshop to survey the range of issues regarding renewable energy activities on the Atlantic outer continental shelf and potential impacts on fisheries. In particular the workshop will explore research and monitoring needs to assess impacts, engaging representatives of the fishing industry; fisheries managers at the state, regional, and federal level; fisheries scientists; and other potential stakeholders. After the conclusion of the workshop, OSB staff, the steering committee, and BOEM program managers will discuss potential mechanisms for BOEM to engage scientific experts and stakeholders to address topics raised at the workshop and other issues as they arise.

Approximately 8-10 experts from scientific disciplines relevant to the Statement of Task will be appointed to the committee. The committee will include members with expertise in the North and Mid-Atlantic, and with experience in fisheries concerns related to European installation of offshore renewable energy platforms.
