2018 NCIA National Training Conference

The National Correctional Industries Association (NCIA) will hold its 2018 National Training Conference from April 15-18, 2018 at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, GA.  We expect approximately 500 Correctional Industries practitioners and commercial vendors to attend.  NCIA is dedicated to serving the professional development needs of its members within the field of Correctional Industries and Jail Work Programs.  You are cordially invited to submit workshop proposals for this prestigious event. 

The NCIA 2018 National Training Conference Program Committee is seeking dynamic presenters that celebrate our successes, challenge our thinking, and push the Correctional Industries field forward.  We are looking for presenters and presentations that inform Correctional Industry professionals about proven best practices and motivate the pursuit of excellence. Proposals are being sought that are innovative, informative and relevant, informed by practice and research, and encourage opportunities for learner engagement.

The Program Tracks for the NCIA 2018 National Training Conference are:

TRACK A - Focus on Shops & Cutting-Edge Technologies
Suggested workshop ideas include:
• New Products/Services (3D Printing, Computer Programming)
• Traditional Industries (Metal, Wood, Ag, Print, Laundry, Textiles, Commissary)
• LEAN, Six Sigma
• Training On Gangs
• Workplace Violence
• Software Forums (ERP/MRP, financial/accounting)
• Green Products and Services
• Automation, Robotics


TRACK B - Sales & Marketing
Suggested workshop ideas include:
• E-marketing, Web, Social Media
• Motivating and Compensating Sales Professionals
• Sales Summit
• New Customer Acquisition
• Up-Selling and Retention
• Customer Service Groups


TRACK C - Best Practices: Reentry-Focused Performance Excellence
Suggested workshop ideas include:
• Any Best Practice Component
• Offender Certifications (ABO, Braille, AWS, USDOL/State DOL)
• Personal Development – How Do I Develop Myself 


TRACK D - Leadership & Management
Suggested workshop ideas include:
• Team Leadership

• Vision and Mission


TRACK E - Private Sector Partnerships
Suggested workshop ideas include:
• PIECP Compliance & Business Development
• Joint Ventures (Non-PIECP)
• Service Work


One-Day Jail Work Programs


Key points for presenters to know:
  • Each workshop will be 75 minutes in length.
  • Seating in workshop rooms will be for approximately 40 participants per session.
  • Presenters are required to register as attendees at the normal conference rate.
  • Honoraria or expenses of presenters cannot be paid by the conference.
