Participant Debriefing Form
The study you just participated in was designed to examine how people perceive the same case differently when the race and status of the primary actors are manipulated. All participants saw the exact same case description; however, the name of the perpetrator was either stereotypically Black (Tyrone) or stereotypically White (Ian). The occupation of the person was also manipulated to be either a janitor or an assistant dean.

In addition, this research also examined more general attitudes about the criminal justice system, perceptions of guilt vs. innocence, and moral beliefs. We are interested to see if any of these characteristics influence the perception of the case.
