In healthcare, we must be mindful of the population we serve. Here in California, our communities are comprised of individuals from all walks of life. With unique backgrounds and perspectives come unique needs in healthcare that are often neglected due to cultural barriers that impede access for vulnerable communities. While there are several lenses to understand cultural competency, youth perspectives are vital towards developing future generations of culturally competent healthcare professionals and meeting the needs of the diversity that exists within our communities.
