Historic Downtown Manassas Consultation

Historic Downtown Manassas Consultation

We are asking businesses and residents in Historic Downtown Manassas to review our new Solid Waste Code and our proposal for commercial trash and recycling collection in the heart of our community. Your experience can help us develop a better service and improve the look of our City.
1. I am a ... *This question is required.
2. What type of trash and recycling service do you currently have?
3. Are you currently experiencing problems with your trash and recycling collection?
4. We are having problems with ...
5. The City has been working on a new Solid Waste Code to help make it easier for everyone to understand the rules regarding trash and recycling - and easier to enforce for City staff. What do you think is the most important issue in the Historic Downtown Manassas area?
6. The City is introducing a scale of fines for Solid Waste Code violations including additional charges for the removal and disposal of trash and recycling left out at the curb. Residents and property owners will be informed of violations and given an opportunity to correct violations before any fine is issued. Do you think this is a fair approach to Solid Waste Code enforcement?
7. The City is also proposing commercial trash and recycling collection for Historic Downtown Manassas that offers a scaled cost of service based on the amount of trash and recycling generated. The aim of this approach is to offer a service that meets the needs of the business and reduces the amount of trash that builds up in between and behind buildings.

One of the biggest challenges is the limited amount of space to store dumpsters and containers. Would you be open to the idea of having more service days and fewer containers?
8. The City wants to work in partnership with businesses, property owners and residents, within Historic Downtown Manassas, to improve recycling and reduce litter through Keep Manassas Beautiful. Would you be interested in helping us to develop these initiatives?
9. We thank you for responding to our survey - but we know that there are some questions that require more information. Would you like to schedule a meeting to further discuss our plans?
10. How would you like to receive information regarding trash and recycling issues?
Thank you for participating in our consultation!
