Review of the Fourth National Climate Assessment

Submissions due by August 25, 2017

The United States Global Change Research Program is leading the development of the Fourth National Climate Assessment (NCA4). The NCA4 is intended to provide an up-to-date evaluation and summary of the current and projected impacts of climate change on the United States, with detailed discussion of regional effects. A new ad hoc committee of the National Academies will conduct an independent review of the NCA4 draft report, scheduled for fall 2017. This will be concurrent with the public review period.

The National Academies is seeking individuals to serve on the committee with expertise in key areas addressed in the NCA4, including:

  • Water
  • Energy
  • Land Cover and Land Use Change
  • Forests
  • Ecosystems, Ecosystem Services, and Biodiversity
  • Coastal Effects
  • Oceans and Marine Resources
  • Agriculture and Rural Communities
  • Built Environment, Urban Systems, and Cities
  • Transportation
  • Air Quality
  • Human Health
  • Tribal and Indigenous Communities
  • Climate Effects on US International Interests
  • Sectoral Interdependencies and Compounding Stressors: The Science of Complex Systems
  • Near-Term Adaptation Needs and Increased Resiliency
  • Mitigation: Avoiding and Reducing Long-Term Risks
