Minnesota ESSA State Plan Public Comment Survey

Welcome to our public comment survey for Minnesota’s Draft Consolidated State Plan Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). This survey is intended for any interested member of the public. The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is interested in hearing from all stakeholders, including:

  • Parents and families
  • Students
  • School districts and charter schools across the state
  • Teachers, principals, other school leaders, paraprofessionals, specialized instructional support personnel, and organizations representing such individuals
  • Charter school leaders
  • Community-based organizations
  • American Indian tribal leaders and members
  • Civil rights organizations, including those representing students with disabilities, English learners, and other historically underserved students
  • Institutions of higher education
  • Employers/businesses
  • Representatives of private school students
  • Early childhood educators and leaders

This survey includes an open-ended question for each section of the state plan, asking you to share your ideas about how the ESSA state plan could be improved to promote equity and support our students and schools.

You may comment on as many sections of the plan as you like, or on the plan overall.

The survey also includes a question regarding which stakeholder group you represent. You may participate in this survey without including your name, and we ask that you do not include any personally identifiable information in your responses. However, if you would like attribution for your input, there is an option for you to provide your name, title, and business or organization. This survey must be completed in a single session, so it will be helpful to have your responses to the questions prepared before you begin. Your responses to this survey will be reviewed by our staff and will inform our final version of the ESSA state plan that will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Education.

This public input survey on the complete draft of the state plan will close when the public comment period ends on August 31, 2017.
