2017-18 Draft Teacher Rubric: Feedback Survey

Overview

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on the 2017-18 Draft Classroom Teacher Rubric. All responses are anonymous.

The model rubrics for educator evaluation in Massachusetts are designed to help educators continuously learn and grow. During the 2017-18 school year, ESE is collecting feedback on the DRAFT Classroom Teacher Rubric and a series of proposed refinements that address four areas of improvement:
  • Clearer exemplary descriptors with modified "modeling" language
  • Removal or clarification of redundant elements
  • Integration of social-emotional learning competencies into existing elements
  • Alignment of instructional practices from the curriculum frameworks to existing elements
The goal of these draft refinements is to ensure that each element includes clear descriptions of authentic practice across all four performance levels, such that a teacher can make adjustments to his/her practice, and an evaluator can provide actionable feedback to a teacher about practice.

Does the draft rubric meet this goal?
In this anonymous survey, you can provide feedback on elements from the 2017 Draft Teacher Rubric. Please focus on the degree to which an element's description communicates actionable information about how to improve and strengthen practice:
  • Are the descriptors concrete (i.e. clear)?
  • Do the descriptors describe authentic teaching practice?
  • Are the descriptors useful in terms of informing growth and development in that element?
You may provide specific suggestions about a given element in the open text box at the end of each section.

Thank you for your time and your efforts in support of teaching and learning in Massachusetts public schools.
