Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) is a system that applies data analysis and modelling to maximize the rate, or percentage, of visitors who “convert” on a website.

A visitor is said to “convert” when they perform a specific desired action, liking clicking a link, signing up for a newsletter, or making a purchase.

In SEO the aim is to drive new leads to a website. Conversely, in CRO, the goal is to convert those leads arriving on the site, by optimizing the website and conversion process.
