The Organizing Committee of the Graduate Summer School in Algebraic Group Actions (June 11 - 15, 2018) (the "Program") invites applications for merit-based funding support.

Eligibility Requirements
Postdoctoral fellows or graduate students may apply.

Funding Support Available

We are able to provide support in the form of local expenses (accommodation in the on-campus residences and a modest per diem allowance).

Conditions of Award

Award recipients are expected to actively participate in the entire 5-day Summer School.

If selected for funding support in the form of local accommodation, you will likely be sharing a double room in the university dormitory. If you have any requests regarding potential roommates, please indicate this in the box below.

Please include a statement of interest detailing the reasons for your participation in the Summer School. Maximum 500 words. 

The statement of interest should explain how this Summer School will strengthen your academic and/or professional development. You could, for example, write about

  • your reasons and motivations for attending the summer school,
  • your current/proposed research, and how you expect participation in the summer school to help you,
  • how attending the summer school will assist you in your professional goals, 
  • the relationship between the summer school and your professional plans, or
  • what you hope to gain from your participation.

Please be as concrete as possible in your response--provide specific examples, such as the names of collaborators attending the event.

Funding support requests should be for the minimum amount necessary to make Program participation possible.

Since we expect funding requests to greatly exceed available resources, you are encouraged to also seek other sources of financial support.

Any reimbursement claims must adhere with Fields Institute Reimbursement Policies. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that his/her funding request is consistent with these guidelines. This question requires a valid currency format.
