HFS Chicago Scholars Mentor Application - 2019

Information

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Mentor for the HFS Chicago Scholars program! The impact that a mentor makes on a scholar's life is critical, as it can leave a positive impression that will impact that scholar's life as a young adult. Mentors are asked to commit a few hours each month to speaking with or meeting with their Scholar. Mentors and Scholars will meet four times each school year as a large group on a Saturday, and that schedule will be set each July. We ask that each mentor be able to make a 2 year commitment with the hope that it could last for all 4 of the Scholar's high school years.

A quick overview of the HFS program:

Since 1992, the award-winning HFS Chicago Scholars (HFS) has helped young men and women in high school achieve their educational aspirations. HFS began its concept to help a small group of economically disadvantaged and academically motivated 13-year old students and now it has grown into one of the largest scholarship organizations in the city of Chicago. For the 2015-2016 Academic School Year, we will assist close to 100 scholars attend some of Chicago's finest private high schools.

HFS provides partial high school scholarships for academically motivated yet economically disadvantaged young men and women. An important part of the HFS Chicago Scholars program is providing our scholars a role model to support them through their high school years. This is where you can get involved as a mentor.
