Structural Engineering Engagement and Equity Survey 2018

Introduction

The National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) Structural Engineering Engagement and Equity (SE3) Committee is currently administering a nationwide survey of structural engineers. This is the first follow-up to a survey conducted in 2016. The NCSEA SE3 Committee intends to administer a similar survey every two years.

The purpose of this survey is to understand the professional experiences of structural engineers regarding such topics as advancement, compensation, and work-life balance in an effort to improve engagement, retention, and equity in the profession. The NCSEA SE3 Committee will release a publicly available report documenting the findings from the survey.

The online survey that follows should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. It is anonymous and voluntary. Responses to this survey will be stripped of identifying information such as IP addresses, and the e-mail addresses provided at the end of the survey are not associated with any individual response. Please make sure you allow adequate time to take the entire survey in one sitting as it is not possible to save your entries part-way through the survey and come back later to finish.

Please note that some of the questions in the survey are personal in nature. The Committee's intent in asking these questions is to attempt to identify professional experiences that may be related to certain demographics or situations. The overarching goal of the biennial surveys is to use the data received to assist in ensuring that everyone's experience in the profession is positive and rewarding.

Thank you for being willing to take this survey.

The NCSEA SE3 Committee
