Test Development Interest Form

IPMA-HR's Assessments & Learning Department specializes in the development of certification and employment exams. To be able to develop the most reliable, fair, and valid assessment tools in the industry, we need public sector agencies to participate by contributing qualified subject matter experts (SMEs).

What is a SME?

A SME is an individual with the field expertise needed to give useful opinions and feedback during the test development projects.

What Does Participation Entail?

There are two stages of the test development process where we need SME contributions:

  1. Job Analysis Study. In this stage, we conduct a job analysis study that focuses on the tasks performed by the incumbents of the job being studied, as well as the personal attributes needed to perform those tasks effectively. The results of the job analysis study are used by test developers when designing the assessments.
  2. Assessment Content Validation Study. At this stage, we ask SMEs to review the content that was created for the assessment and give feedback and recommendations. The feedback provided by SMEs during the assessment content validation study is used by test developers when refining the assessments.

What are the benefits of participating?
  • You can earn discounts or rewards.
  • Better equipped. You'll be better equipped to defend your jurisdiction's selection process if you help develop the test you're using.
  • Hire better candidates. High-quality assessments assist in the selection of high-quality candidates, saving agencies the costly expense of turnover while upholding the reputation of the hardworking men and women in your field.
If your agency is interested in participating in one of our test development projects, please submit this interest form.
