Title: To investigate the sociocultural factors that impede the duration of breastfeeding in the UK.

You are being invited to take part in a research study. Before you decide it is important that you understand why the research is being done and what it involves. Please take time to read the following information. Ask us if there is anything that is not clear or if you would like more information. Take time to decide if you want to take part or not.

  1. What is the purpose of the study?

This research is being conducted by students and it aims to investigate the sociocultural factors that impede the duration of breastfeeding in the UK.

  1. Do I have to take part?

No. It is up to you to decide whether or not to take part. If you do you will be given this information sheet and by answering the questionnaire you are giving consent. You are free to withdraw at any time and without giving a reason. A decision to withdraw will not affect your rights/any future treatment/service you receive.

  1. What will happen to me if I take part?

You will be involved for the duration of the questionnaire, it will take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete. Your results will be then analysed and used as part of the study, and will remain confidential at all times.

  1. Are there any risks / benefits involved?

Conducting the questionnaire, participants may come across a question which may be a sensitive or distressing topic: due to these adverse effects it will be made aware that participants can withdraw at any time during the process.

  1. Will my taking part in the study be kept confidential?

During and after the study, information will not be shared to anyone other than the researchers.
