(Applications Due Friday, February 23rd, at 12pm)

Peer Mentors are responsible for engaging and supporting new students in their departments after they arrive on campus. This includes NYU Welcome Week activities, New Student Seminar, office hours for 1:1 appointments, and other departmental programs.

Peer Mentor Training occurs on-campus before Welcome Week, August 20-24, 2018.

Peer Mentors assist in creating a welcoming climate for both incoming transfer students and new first-year students by supporting their transition into NYU.

Peer Mentors are responsible for co-facilitating a section of New Student Seminar. Candidates for this position must be able to communicate with departmental advisors as well as articulate ALBERT registration procedures to new students.

Successful Peer Mentors:

  • Facilitate engagement with new students through programming in NYC
  • Answer questions related to student life on campus
  • Share personal experiences related to NYU
  • Provide 1:1 mentorship to new students in the Fall semester

  2. During the Fall semester you must be able to co-facilitate a section of New Student Seminar (class time discussed with department) and hold ~10 office hours during the semester.
  3. You may be employed outside of this role as long as you can commit to the training and all required dates and times. Students employed in multiple roles at NYU cannot exceed 20 hours/week.
