2019-20 Principal Advisory Cabinet Application

About the Opportunity

Applications are due on Sunday, September 1st at midnight

Welcome
On behalf of the Center for Instructional Support at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, we invite you to apply to participate in the 7th cohort of the Principal Advisory Cabinet.

About the Cabinets
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is pleased to convene Teacher and Principal Advisory Cabinets each year as a way to recognize excellent educators, elevate teacher and principal voices at the state level, and provide opportunities for leadership. Cabinet members attend four meetings a year and provide insights and feedback about current policies and inform the development of new policies and resources. The Teacher and Principal Advisory Cabinets have been informing our work since 2012.

2019-20 Advisory Cabinets: Focus on Professional Learning
The 2019-20 Advisory Cabinets will provide feedback and input into professional learning policy and guidance updates, with an emphasis on:
  • Teacher-led, job-embedded professional development
  • Content-specific professional learning structures and opportunities
  • Integration and alignment of professional development to educator effectiveness and student learning needs
Who Should Apply?
The Principal Advisory Cabinet is open to all school-level administrators, including principals, assistant principals, department chairs, and charter school leaders. We are seeking a diverse group of leaders representing urban, suburban, and rural districts that reflect the demographics of Massachusetts’s students.

Time Commitment
In addition to attendance at all four meetings listed below, participants will spend 2-3 hours in between meetings completing pre-work. We receive more applications than we have spaces on the Cabinet, so it is important that all educators who apply and are accepted are able to participate fully.

Please note: We are unable to reimburse participants for travel or parking expenses, but we do our best to locate premises with ample free parking.

How to Apply
To be considered for the Principal Advisory Cabinet, we must receive all application materials by Sunday, September 1st at midnight. The application consists of three parts:
  • The online application.
  • A current resume that is uploaded into the online application.
  • A supervisor’s recommendation and commitment of support. When you apply, we will send a link to an online form for your supervisor to fill out.
