UWCx events shall reflect and further the UWC mission, its values, reach and impact.

UWCx events shall focus on issues and topics that are in line with and contribute to spreading the values of UWC.

UWCx event organisational principles

UWCx events shall be organised as a nonprofit. As such, any surplus should be reinvested in the organisation of further events and/or in supporting UWC.

UWCx events shall be financially sustainable. A business plan detailing expected sources of funding shall be in place.

UWCx events shall be organised in a way that respects the core values of UWC, amongst others, they should:

Promote international and intercultural understanding, celebrate the value of difference, mutual responsibility and respect;

Ensure gender balance and cultural diversity of speakers and facilitators;

Follow sustainability principles in the event organisation, such as minimising waste and the use of plastic, choosing locally grown food for catering and offering preferably plant-based options, supporting the local economy by selecting local companies for catering and service, etc.

All UWC events shall be transparent with UWC International regarding financing, team and governance structures as and when required.

Commitments towards UWC

Upon joining, UWCx events have the right to use the UWCx brand. To ensure consistency, events must comply with the UWC brand guidelines.

UWCx events shall submit an ‘Impact Summary’ to UWC International after the event has finished.

Each UWCx event must appoint a contact person for UWC International and must inform UWC International should the contact person change.

UWCx events must review the UWC Common Standards for Safeguarding, provide a written agreement to them and apply them to their work, in particular when dealing with minors. Each UWCx event must also appoint a Designated Safeguard Lead (DSL) prior to UWCx accreditation being granted.

UWCx events should clearly display the UWCx logo on their programme and visual identity. UWC flyers and informative materials shall be distributed to participants at the event.
