London Early Year's Foundation

Social Enterprise Research Project - Provider Survey

Introduction

As childcare professionals working in a climate of continued economic and political uncertainty, we are all well aware how the Early Years sector in the UK is facing particular challenges. At the same time, as long as the fight to end child poverty remains, the need for high quality, affordable daycare is even greater than ever.

Amidst all the talk of David Cameron's 'Big Society', Social Enterprise* is frequently highlighted as one model with the potential to solve this dilemma and really work for childcare providers - as it combines trading with the creation of genuine social value.

As the UK’s leading childcare charity and social enterprise, the London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) is building a better future for London’s children, families and local communities through a commitment to excellence in Early Years education, training and research.  As such, we have been working with Middlesex University over the past two years, exploring ways in which we might share the benefits of our experience in this respect.

Whichever kind of daycare setting you run, by completing a short 5 minute survey, you will make a real difference to the project - and more importantly to children and their parents - by helping us to establish how support in developing more accessible, quality care using this approach might be useful to other providers.

To thank you for your time and support, all responses completed by Friday 19 August will be entered into a Prize Draw to win** a FREE CPD training course at our Head Office in Pimlico.

Upcoming courses include: ‘Nutrition in the Early Years: Striking a Healthy Balance’, ‘Getting the Balance Right: Risk and Challenge in the Nursery’ and ‘The LEYF Ethos’.  For more information, please visit www.leyf.org.uk/learn.

In the meantime, please help us complete this vital piece of research.  Simply click NEXT below now to begin our short survey.

Please note: all responses will be strictly confidential and your details will not be shared with any third party.

*A social enterprise is a business that trades in the market for a social purpose whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose: it is not defined by its legal status but by its nature, aims and outcomes.
