Children are curious - they beg us to teach them. But 30% of American adults have said they do not believe in evolution, more than double the 14% who say they do (Miller et al. 2006, Science). 14% is the same percentage of Republicans who say they believe in human-caused climate change, leaving 86% who don't (Reuters/Stanford/Ipsos Poll, 2011).
All of this disbelief in science is greater here in the USA than anywhere in the developed world. This suggests we have been failing our children in science literacy, and we want to address this. We are developing a science program, ironically titled Science? Schmience!.
