The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) is an organization dedicated to improving the student experience at Princeton by providing services to make our lives easier, advocating for student interests, and serving as a liaison between the student body and the administration. To join this effort, we hope you will consider applying for an appointed position on USG! You may select up to three positions.

Please keep in mind that if you are selected for an interview, it will take place on Tuesday, January 10th or Wednesday, January 11th. If selected for a position, a mandatory retreat for all USG members is taking place on January 13th and 14th. Projects Manager
The projects manager oversees the smooth progression of the senate’s undertakings by helping the President and Vice President to form strategic plans with project leaders, keeping record of the projects and responsible members, collecting weekly updates from members, and compiling the mid-year and annual reports.
 Specific Duties:
   - Maintain an accurate list of the ongoing projects, project leaders, project members, and progress
   - Collect weekly updates from projects for publication in a Weekly What’s Up newsletter to the senate
   - Meet with specific groups conceiving a project and assist the President and Vice President to guide these groups through the formation of a plan according to the USG’s established project formation protocols
   - Compile and publish the USG Midyear and Annual Reports
• Time Commitment: 12-14 hours

Executive Secretary
The executive secretary works closely with the President and Vice President as the lead organizer of the Executive Committee activities, including coordinating the weekly meetings, keeping accurate records from these meetings, and scheduling special meetings with USG members and administrators. He or she also ensures organization-wide adherence to attendance policies and use of the USG Playbook.
• Specific Duties:
   - Schedule and take minutes at Executive Committee meetings
   - Maintain accurate attendance records at Executive Committee and Senate Meetings
   - Schedule meetings with administrators
   - Develop and update the USG Playbook, a resource with advice and best-practices for current and future USG administrations
• Time Commitment: 7 hours per week

Senate Secretary
The Senate Secretary is chiefly responsible for the organization of weekly senate meetings and the management of the USG office.
• Specific Duties:
   - Prepare agendas and collect handouts for weekly senate meetings
   - Reserve and prepare the room for weekly senate meetings
   - Take notes at weekly senate meetings and distribute them via email for approval of the senate
   - Maintain the appearance and functionality of the USG office, including ordering supplies
• Time Commitment: 5 hours per week

Communications Director
The communications director is responsible for publicizing USG
events and programs, coordinating special communications with the
student body and University community, and working with the
media.
• Specific Duties:
   - Liaison with Campus Media: Maintain open communication with the Daily Princetonian and other media outlets; Proactively identify project milestones worthy of coverage and advise project leaders in these cases as appropriate
   - Social Media: Utilize Facebook, Twitter and other mediums to make public announcements to the student body
   - Maintain the suggestion box and establish office hours
• Time Commitment: 4+ hours per week (varies depending on the project)

Community Service Chair
The Community Service Chair is responsible for leading a committee to connect students with opportunities to participate in community service projects and to build and strengthen a culture of service on Princeton's campus.
• Specific Duties:
   - Use the Campus Community Challenge (3C) program to publicize the amazing service opportunities available on campus and beyond.
   - Find opportunities for beneficial partnerships with on-campus service groups, such as the Pace Center.
   - Provide the leadership, the organizational skills, and anything else needed to enable the members of the Community Service Committee members to succeed in strengthening the role of service in the lives of Princeton students.
• Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per week

IT Chair
The IT Chair leads the IT Committee and is responsible for creating and maintaining independent projects that add to the technological resources available to the USG and student body as a whole. The IT chair also serves as an active participant in senate projects involving technology.
• Additional Duties:
   - Create and maintain online resources (TigerApps like ICE, Student Events Calendar, etc)
   - Communicate with OIT to represent student interests
   - Assist Senate members in the creation of surveys and other technical aspects of projects
• Time Commitment: 10 hours per week

Head Webmaster
A member of the IT Committee, the Webmaster is responsible for maintaining the USG website by posting short news articles, keeping standing pages up-to-date, and investigating ways to improve the USG’s digital communication strategies.
 Specific Duties:
   - Post updates to the USG website based on upcoming events and projects
   - Advise the Senate on the use of new technology to improve USG efficiency and collaboration
   - Maintain and improve USG website’s appearance and effectiveness
   - Assist Senate members in the creation of surveys and other technical aspects of projects
• Time Commitment: 4 hours per week

Chief Designer
The Designer serves as the lead designer for all USG publications (electronic or print)
• Specific Duties:
   - Ensure the visual appeal and utility of the USG website
   - Design promotional materials for USG projects and events
   - Enforce a consistent image across USG publications and communications
• Time Commitment: 5 hours per week

Chief Elections Manager
The chief elections manager is responsible for running the Spring, Fall, and Winter USG elections. This involves organizing the candidate information sessions, keeping an accurate record of candidates’ information, assessing penalty points, creating the ballots, reporting on the progress of the elections to the senate and the media.
• Time Commitment: 10 hours during three 4-week long elections cycles

Student Groups Liaison
The Student Groups Liaison chairs the Student Groups Recognition Committee and is responsible for supporting the development of new student groups and overseeing the process of approving these new organizations.
• Specific Duties:
   - Receive and review applications on an online database
   - Answer questions regarding the application process
   - Direct and set the agenda for Student Groups Recognition Committee (SGRC)
   - Present the decisions of the Committee to the Senate after each meeting
   - Serve as the liaison between individual students or student organizations and the USG Senate and other University offices, especially the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students (ODUS)
• Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week + 2 hour SGRC meeting and Senate Presentation (4 times a semester)
