Welcome to the Registration Page for the APF-NIPC DINNER DIALOGUES Series entitled: Responsible Opioid Prescribing in the Era of REMS

This independent medical education activity is sponsored by the American Pain Foundation (APF) and supported through an educational grant from Endo Pharmaceuticals.

This independent medical education activity is noncertified.  Although this activity is noncertified, it will meet the same high quality educational standards that have always been associated with the NIPC, and provide content that is evidence based, fair-balanced, unbiased, and not influenced by commercial interests.

This activity has been planned in accordance with the need to educate healthcare professionals on strategies for improving assessment, treatment, and management of individuals with pain receiving opioid therapy;  and overcoming barriers that hinder appropriate care for individucals with pain.

Target Audience 
This activity is intended for healthcare professionals who treat individuals living with pain, including family physicians, general practitioners, internal medicine specialists, neurologists, neurologists, rheumatologists, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Apply critical thinking strategies to optimize analgesia and facilitate safe use of opioid therapy in clinical practice
  • Integrate sound principles of opioid prescribing and documentation into daily practice to foster compliance with state medical boards, governmental agencies, and Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS)
  • Engage in patient communications that underscore safe and appropriate use of opioid analgesics and minimize potential adverse events
