What Works for Cities: Spotlight on Solutions

Page One

In cities across the country, innovative programs and models are being used to spur job growth and urban business development. Some of these initiatives are high-profile, while others fly under the radar. ICIC and CEOs for Cities are looking to bring successful city initiatives to light in front of a national audience at the 2012 Inner City Economic Summit.

Together, we're soliciting examples of "What Works" in your cities. From economic development department initiatives, to foundation-led programs; from services offered through nonprofits and local CDCs, to business-led case studies, we're looking for the best examples of how to create jobs, grow businesses and revitalize urban economies.

We're looking for submissions that highlight innovative public-private partnerships that are sparking private sector development in our urban communities. Specifically, we've honed in on three categories: sector-led workforce development; city and anchor economic development collaborations; and efforts to create jobs and build businesses in the food cluster. We're particularly interested in the strategies being employed in small- and mid-sized cities.

Using the form below, share with us "What's Working" in your city for a chance to promote the example at the 2012 Inner City Economic Summit. An advisory committee will select the top 3 examples from each topic area. Each winner will be invited to join ICIC and CEOs for Cities as part of the "What Works for Cities" interactive session on Sept. 19th. A discussion about these examples will follow, including the lessons learned and ways to replicate in other cities.

The deadline for submissions HAS BEEN EXTENDED to August 15, 2012. Submissions will be reviewed from August 16-20th with winning entries notified thereafter.
