• With Colombia's history of unfulfilled promises and unimplemented commitments, we must insist that real, substantial and time-tested improvements on the ground are necessary before a trade agreement can be approved.

• Despite claims that the Colombian trade agreement will create jobs in the US, experience tells us the opposite; the Economic Policy Institute predicts a net loss of 55,000 jobs due to the Colombia FTA. That is the last thing we need in our economy.

• Colombia is the most dangerous place in the world for workers fighting for collective bargaining rights. Minimum requirements for human rights and labor protections have clearly not been met, and if the Colombia FTA passes as it stands, the deal will perpetuate and support widespread violence and abuse at the cost of American middle class jobs.
