What Do You Think Would Make a Cool BCPVA Meeting?

We value your ideas, so if YOU could choose topics for our meeting what would they be?

Please fill out this quick survey and help your executive make the BCPVA meetings "MUST GO TO EVENTS".

Below is the cut and paste from Sue Greening's (our BCPVA Communications Director) January 2011 Newsletter.

Your BCPVA executive have discussed some great meeting ideas for 2011 and now we need your input to make those meetings what you want!

With this in mind our January 19th meeting will be a group discussion on many different topics that will help our association move forward, grow and keep our members engaged. We need everyone to help with this by attending the meeting armed with ideas. Think about what YOU want to learn about, hear about or participate in. It's your association and we need your ideas.

We will break out into groups and conduct a roundtable discussion using the following topics as a guideline. Our goal is to come up with a list of topic ideas for our upcoming meetings that our members deem important.

Topic Ideas: Please think about these topics ahead of time and come to the meeting with what YOU would like to learn more about.

EQUIPMENT: What specific equipment do you want to learn about? Is there something you don't know how to do or want to learn more details about? Give specific ideas on learning more about AUDIO, CAMERAS (model) or LIGHTING.

BUSINESS: Is there something your are have difficulty with in running your business. Does it relate to FINANCIAL, ADVERTISING & MARKETING (where best to spend your money), SELLING (like up-selling, email campaign), INSURANCE, WCB COVERAGE or LEGEL (we will have Dawn Wattie back to give us more time) Give us specifics and don't be shy. If you have having trouble with one of these areas, chances are good someone else is too.

**We would also like everyone's input on whether you believe that our professional members should be required to carry business insurance in order to become a professional member of the BCPVA. We started this topic in 2010 and said we would discuss it further, so now is your time to give an opinion.**

DEMONSTRATIONS: Do you want member demo's or vendor demo's? Which is more informative for you? Would you like to see more samples of other members work?

VIDEO CREATION: Are you interested in learning more on creative content, editing techniques (styles vary depending on the type of video being made)

MEETING FORMAT: Would you rather see one presentation (longer) and discussion or 2 persentations (shorter)? Give us your reasons why. Would you like to have THEME meetings?

FOCUS GROUPS: Would be interested in meeting in smaller groups, not during the BCPVA meetings, to discuss topics in more detail? Meet up to shoot and try different techniques? Meet to learn different ways to edit? Meet with others who have the same interests as you and learn from each other.

BCPVA: Are you getting a return on investment? Did you like what we did in 2010? Are we on the right track? Would you participate in on-line surveys to get more information if we put them out? (these are time consuming to put together) Would you participate in a charity event if we decided to align the BCPVA with one? Do you have any ideas on what type of charity to consider?

In summary, our January 19th meeting will be a group participation meeting where we will get some great ideas from everyone to keep our association moving forward. We will start the meeting off in our usual way, with executive reports and minutes.

Together we can make the BCPVA a strong & growing association.

Cheers,
Sue Greening
BCPVA Communications Director
