Introducing Mobile Survey Stylesheets

SurveyGizmo is proud to announce the release of a major improvement for mobile web browsers viewing SurveyGizmo surveys! Many people are aware of the newer full-fledged browsers in the Apple iPhone, Palm Pre, and Google’s Android platform. Also, mobile phone users who install the Opera Mini browser tend to support JavaScript, Stylesheets, and all the things that make SurveyGizmo surveys beautiful and powerful. However, the majority of phone browsers that exist in middle to lower end phones (or simply slightly older phones) have limitations in what they can display. Furthermore, many international customers pay for every byte of data that is downloaded, so a small download of the survey is critical in reducing their costs to even view the survey!

Using the mobile readiness tester at Ready.mobi, surveys designed for mobile devices attain a score of 4.93 (Good) out of 5!

There is a new theme available to all users called Mobile Devices (simple) which should be used when designed for these types of mobile devices. You should also consider the following rules when designing your survey:

• Question Types allowed:
  • Radio Buttons
  • Checkboxes
  • Drop-down Menus
  • Text Fields
• Horizontal alignment for radio button and checkbox questions are not created in a table and thus are more mobile friendly
• The Progress Bar and Page Title are removed from the stylesheet for better rendering and less confusion
• Default values are recommended for mobile devices by Ready.mobi. This gets a better score, but is not good for survey results
• The smaller the survey the better
• The full mobile treatment is not available with Private Domains (Enterprise level feature)
