Thanks to the hundred’s of individuals who signed up for the SurveyGizmo & MailChimp Integration webinar today. There were some audio issues initially which caused us to drop the recording of the webinar to ensure the actual webinar could move forward, so we apologize for the delay and the lack of a video recording. However, at the bottom of this post you will sign-ups for this webinar in the future, including times for Australian customers! Below are some Questions and Answers we were unable to address at the end of the webinar.
Q: If a SurveyGizmo account has several users, is it possible to restrict which users can take advantage of the MailChimp API? Is it an all or nothing type of thing, where once the API is added all SurveyGizmo users on our account can access it and email a campaign?
A: You would need to use User Permissions to restrict a user from accessing the PUBLISH page of the survey. There is no separate permission for only MailChimp. However, you are required to LOGIN to mailchimp when you click the campaign wizard link from SurveyGizmo, so if they do not have those credentials, they will not be able to login to the MailChimp account.
Q: How can you send reminders to only those who have NOT completed the survey?
A: MailChimp and SurveyGizmo integration is not yet robust enough to make MailChimp aware of where in the survey response process the respondent is, and thus there is no way to send a reminder like you can within SurveyGizmo’s email invitation system to respondents who have not yet completed the survey without a lot of additional work to identify those individuals.
Q: could SurveyGizmo also scan a webpage to create a survey template?
A: SurveyGizmo does not currently offer this feature. SurveyGizmo 3.0 however does make building a template even simpler, you can do it in 90 seconds.
Q: What about password protection or stopping people from taking the survey more than once?
A: SurveyGizmo’s Survey Login action (Pro and above) can provide password protection, while Pro and above plans also offer duplicate protection.
Q: Is there is any way to get information about “who” abandoned the survey?
A: If you use the new integration tutorial to pass in the email address, and have an Enterprise level SurveyGizmo account, you can export data about Abandoned responses, and this would include the passed in email information.
Q: Can you embed the survey into your website?
A: Yes, at all plan levels, via JavaScript or iFrame code SurveyGizmo provides.
Q: Can I use that email info to automatically populate a response, and give the respondent the opportunity to change it?
A: Yes, check out the pre-population tutorial.
Q: Any problem with the opt-in list if I use this feature to follow-up with retail customers who have not signed up for my newsletter? Can I create a list of people who have not opted-in, and send them a survey after a sale without violating spam policy?
A: While not illegal, it may not be recommended. It’s a gray area, and for more info, see the last reply in this thread from Dan in the MailChimp Jungle.
