Business Cards Are So 1990…

Posted by 2 Responses Filed in: How-to articles

A customer called in today and said she was setting up a laptop as a kiosk and wanted people to take a survey, but she needed to have a fresh survey to appear every time a new person came to the laptop and she could not figure out how to do it.

Not to worry!  This can be easily accomplished using SurveyGizmo and a few cool tricks.

A Customer’s Kiosk Dilemma Easily Fixed With SurveyGizmo

First, you’re going to want to create your survey and then make a “dummy” Thank You page and position it right before the real Thank You page. We suggest writing something along the lines of “Thank you for taking this survey. When you hit the submit button at the bottom of this page your information will be collected and you will be automatically directed to the first page of this survey so the next person in line can take it. Thanks!”

Once you have created this page, you are going to need to add a URL redirect on the actual Thank You page so that what you explained on the previous page will actually come true.

To do this, you will need to click on the Add Action button and then select “Redirect Browser.”  Then, paste the link for your survey (which you collected from the Publish Tab) and hit Save Action.  Once you’ve done that you should be all set. Don’t forget to preview your survey and make sure everything works before letting your survey takers try it out! How easy was that?!?

This whole topic got us to thinking that there must be other cool ways we could use this technique.  A couple of ideas we came up with were: collecting trade show attendee’s email information to sign them up for a newsletter or just to connect with them (no need to worry about losing business cards!), entering paper surveys quickly and efficiently into the digital form, or continuously collecting information from customers in a call-center environment.

Those are just a few ideas we came up with really quickly, but if you have any other uses or ideas regarding this cool trick or any others leave a comment below and tell us about it!

UPDATE: Rather than using this workaround, SurveyGizmo now offers native kiosk surveys! From within SurveyGizmo, creating a kiosk survey is now a one-step operation.
