Testing 1, 2, 3…SurveyGizmo 3.0 – Now with automatic test data!

Posted by 4 Responses Filed in: Features

It’s 4:30 on a Friday afternoon, you’ve just finished designing your survey, and you want to be able to hit the send button on your email invite once you get into the office on Monday morning. But you need some test data in your survey to make sure your reports will look alright.

Again, it’s 4:30 on a Friday afternoon — if your office is anything like the SurveyGizmo offices, by 4:30 on a Friday it’s hard to get anyone to stop dancing (yes — we do have 4 o’clock Friday dance partyeveryone is welcome!), let alone get them to sit down long enough to fill out a survey so you can get the data you need.

So what do you do? Push your survey off until Monday afternoon so you can get some concentrated testing going? The boss won’t be happy about that one, and you would really like to get the survey out in the morning.

Good news! We now give you the ability to automatically generate test survey data for all your surveys inside of SurveyGizmo 3.0. So not only can you build your surveys quicker, you can test it all by yourself – can I hear working weekends anyone??

It’s extremely simple to generate the test data and it doesn’t even count against your monthly response count (it’s test data after all…)

To create the test data, just head over to your publish tab. If you haven’t published your survey yet, you should see Step 4 – Tested Survey? and a button called Generate Test Data. Just click that and you can insert up to 1,000 test responses.

If you’ve already launched your survey, just click the Generate Test Data button on your publish page and insert up to 1,000 responses into your survey. They’ll be gone within 24 hours and not clutter up your real data.

So now, you can be a one person survey machine, all thanks to SurveyGizmo 3.0!

Interestingly, I am finding that the test data in SG 3.0 is ignoring my page logic and regex field validation, despite the documentation’s claims. Both work fine when I manually test via a test link to my survey, but I’m getting all kinds of text in a field that allows for only five digits and responses in fields on pages that should have been skipped due to prior answers.

      Hi Scot,
That seems odd. Have you put a ticket into our support team so they can look into it for you?
      Thanks,
      Brittany

No I haven’t, as we’re about to take the survey live tomorrow. I just thought I’d alert you to the matter in the place I expected to find an answer.
