If you remember, back in September, we ranked fairly high for customer service, price, and overall satisfaction as part of the semi-annual MarketResearchCareer.com survey for Market Research professionals.
The results from the larger, overall 2009 Market Research Industry survey have just arrived and we placed even higher this time around than we had previously. We’re extremely excited and proud of the progress we have made in the past couple of months and know we could not have done it without each of you.
From #8 to #4!
Although we didn’t quite crack the top 3 on the list of overall satisfaction of online survey software, we’re right up there at #4!
The last time the survey was given (in September), we were ranked #8. To go up 4 spots in 4 months is something we couldn’t be happier about. Hopefully the next time they send out the survey, we’ll keep the trend alive and hop up another 4 spots to #1.
Interesting Findings About Survey Features & Capabilities
Of the 495 Market Research professionals who took part in the annual survey, there were 3 survey software features that they focused on in particularly and those were:
- Advanced features (like branching, piping, randomization)
- Affordable pricing
- Access to an API
We thought this was intriguing because the top two features that market researchers found important (price and advanced logic) are directly inline with our values and where we concentrate our efforts on the most. Not to mention that we were the first in the industry to have an open API because we knew, first-hand, that this was an important tool in a Market Researcher’s arsenal to help analyze and manipulate the data that they were collecting.
Curious Findings
The overall results of the survey were not all that surprising — many things were what you would expect with the economy making a small comeback: slight increases in expected budgets, raises, etc. The one thing we did find rather curious were the online survey software providers that were ranked in the #1-3 spots on the overall satisfaction with online survey software report. The top three were:
- “In-House” Proprietary Software
- SPSS
- Sawtooth Software
Those top three are not normally what we see when asking about our competitors, but this has given us some new insight into the Market Research industry overall.
We believe that the reason that the “in-house” software was ranked number one is because many people got so fed up with the tools that used to be out there (exactly why SurveyGizmo was built; marketers that were fed up survey tools that would not do what they wanted for price they could afford), that they just built their own tools. They are so invested in the tool and the time it took to create it that they don’t go out searching for a product that will do everything they have, but is built even better with features they didn’t even know they were missing.
That said, those are just a few of the highlights of the survey. If you’re a market research professional and are interested in where the industry is going, check out the MarketResearchCareers.com website and download a copy of the survey results.
