Nothing says tricky like an undocumented hidden feature. As some have found, there is an additional feature for checkbox questions in SurveyGizmo called ‘None of the above’. This has been mentioned in our forums since this original post. Since this is an undocumented feature, there are some assumptions and confusion about its possibilities and/or limitations.

First and foremost, if you create a checkbox question and add an option called ‘None of the above’ (no quotation marks), it will perform some special functions within the survey:

Always be at the bottom of the list, even if you randomize or have options marked as ‘other’

Deselect any previously selected checkboxes for that question, dynamically and immediately

It will not be piped if a follow-up question pipes from the none of the above question

There are also limitations to this feature, which may conflict with expectations:

<del datetime="2009-06-03T16:26:26+00:00">Selection of None of the above does not prevent respondents from reselecting any other checkboxes</del> Fixed! None of the above now is an exclusive select.

The Reporting Value or Option Title must be an exact match to None of the above

On the second point, this is useful as well because the Option Label can be rephrased to something else as long as the Reporting Value is still set as None of the above. An example is shown below.

If you have your own feature you would love to have in SurveyGizmo, feel free to fill out the Feature Suggestions Survey!

For any other questions, feel free to use our community forums.
