Tutorial Feedback and a Bit of Fun
Almost a year ago we put a tutorial series on Query Strings. At the end of the series we offered a sample survey that included a question about the most useful section of the tutorial, in an effort to gather some feedback on what our users expect from our tutorials and what type of tutorial is the best fit.

Part 1 covered the basics on what a query string was and the basic structure of it, including the basic way it is used with a survey. Part 2 gave specific step-by-step instructions on applying the knowledge from part 1. Part 3 were real-world examples. The results show that educating users in a reference manner, learning the ‘how it works’ rather than ‘how to do’ was very important to users. Of course, it wasn’t a landslide, as almost 1/3 of the users liked the full series in its entirety. We didn’t have an open comment box, but if you have more input or feedback, please include it in the comments.
Of course, not every survey included in our tutorials is completely serious, we have a little fun sometimes as well. In our HTTP POST demonstration, we asked two fun questions: What is your favorite pet, and what’s your favorite quote?

Here’s a sampling of favorite quotes collected so far:
- Don’t mess with the Jesus – The Big Lebowski
- Vanity is my favorite sin – Devil’s Advocate
- Yippee-ki-yay, Mr. Falcon – Die Hard 2 (censored version)
- Badges?… We don’t need no… stinkin’ badges! – The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (misquoted)
- I’ve been down here before and I know the way out – The West Wing, Leo McGarry (tv)
There was a ton of Schwarzenegger quotes, especially from Terminator. It seems SurveyGizmo customers interested in a complex interaction like HTTP POST really like action films! SurveyGizmo is useful for all sorts of things, from your customer satisfaction surveys to the internal survey about where to go to lunch! Try out some unique uses of SurveyGizmo with your next survey!
