Recently, WordPress updated to version 2.8.1, which included security fixes that caused many plugins to get the error, “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” SurveyGizmo’s survey plugin for WordPress was no exception. Our development team was very busy with the server migration and was not able to address the changes right away. However, it turns out that one of our fantastic users stepped in and addressed 95% of the changes needed to be compatible with 2.8.1 and above! Victar Mas of pixelcraftco.com stepped in and put out a fantastic post on our forums.
Thanks to his contribution, the plugin has now been updated to version 1.2 to incorporate his fixes as well as a few other minor bug fixes (including the ability to see a message when there is an updated version). We welcome the rest of the developer and SurveyGizmo user community to contribute to the plugin as well if you find added features and uses of our API to improve it for other users! The plugin was originally developed to showcase the uses of our API, so there is definitely room for making it even more fantastic!
To install the new version of the plugin if you currently have the old version installed:
- Download a copy of the wordpress survey plugin .zip file to your computer.
- Login to your WordPress install and go to the Plugins section.
- Deactivate the SurveyGizmo plugin and then delete it, ensuring you Delete All the Files.
- Click ‘Add New’ under Plugins and choose the ‘upload’ link (small link above the search box).
- Browse and select the file you downloaded earlier. Follow the prompts to activate the plugin.
- Since it was installed previously, your API key is still saved, so just click SurveyGizmo under Dashboard to access it!
Thanks again to Victar for his work, “It takes a village… “
