Anonymous Survey Data
What is this?
SurveyGizmo allows you to keep your respondents’ personal information anonymous and separate from your survey reporting. By adjusting one setting in your survey, you can make sure your data is untraceable to the source (including tracing via IP address).
When would I use it?
By letting your respondents know that the survey is anonymous, you can gather more accurate, unbiased survey data and use it to make better decisions.
A great example of this would be Employee Satisfaction Surveys. If employees feel as if their job may be in danger if they tell the truth, they would be more likely not to share their whole opinion. Making the survey anonymous makes it so they can provide you honest opinions, and feel more comfortable doing so.
What should I avoid?
We highly recommend avoiding turning on the “anonymous” survey option until you are absolutely sure you want your survey to remain anonymous. Once the option has been turned on, there is no way to reverse it.
While our system can remove automatically collected information, we cannot automatically not include a question that asks for personal information. If you wish to keep your survey anonymous, it’s best practice to avoid asking personal information inside the survey.
What information is hidden when this feature is on?
Any identifying information that is available within our system is stripped from the survey if the “anonymous” option is turned on. This will removed the following information:
- IP address
- Geo-Tracking Data
- Invite Data (email address information)
