Cross Tab Report

What is this?

A Crosstabulation, abbreviated as Crosstab or Cross Tab is a comparative analysis tool that displays information in a two-dimensional grid. Cross Tab reports show data in a table format, where the intersections of the table columns and rows present comparative data.

The full SurveyGizmo crosstabulation report allows you to compare as little as 2 questions against each other, one on the horizontal and one on the vertical. You can also compare up to 3 question on the horizontal axis against practically unlimited on the vertical.

It has four data elements presented; the Count, the Horizontal percentage (h%), the Vertical percentage (v%), and the Index. The report is displayed in a large table that is familiar to market researchers and the analysis is also referred to as row, column, index instead of horizontal, vertical, index.

What it can do for you?

By analyzing your survey data with cross tab reporting you can isolate patterns as they pertain to certain questions or responses. It is a commonly used market research tool, and can really help drill down into multiple questions and find out more about the correlation between multiple questions in your surveys.

A common use of the cross-tab is to compare specific demographics (such as gender, or height) to other specific information you’re looking for (such as the persons favorite color, or how the voted in the last election). This will help you identify any key differences in answers based upon gender.
